4 hour block of training that upon completion allows the trainee to seek unarmed guard registration for the state of Tennessee. The course covers a range of topics, including but not limited to: the role of a security officer, general first aid, emergency evacuation and notification procedures, patrol procedures, general security terminology, and report writing. A written examination is administered upon completion of the course. A minimum score of 80% is required to successfully pass the course.

16 hour block of training (12 hours class time and 4 hours range time) that upon completion allows the trainee to seek armed guard registration for the state of Tennessee. This course covers a range of topics including but not limited to: Federal laws regarding possession and ownership of firearms, proper carry procedures and holsters, safe retention of weapons, basics of marksmanship, firearm nomenclature, firearm operation and function, and firearm storage. The range aspect of this course will consist of a block of training regarding range safety followed by a 50 round course of fire. Successful completion of this course requires passing a written examination (minimum score 80%) and completing the course of fire (80% accuracy).

The course of classroom instruction will cover a range of topics but not be limited to: proper carry and storage of a firearm, the laws with regard to the possession of firearms, laws with regard to the carry permit, firearm operation and function, and the basics of marksmanship. The range aspect of this course will consist of a block of instruction on range safety followed by a 50 round course of fire. Successful completion of this course requires passing a written examination (minimum score 80%) and completing the course of fire (80% accuracy).

This course will cover many topics similar to the armed guard course with additional instruction in shotgun handling and nomenclature. The range aspect of the course will consist of a block of instruction on range safety followed by a 10 round course of fire. Successful completion of this course requires passing a written examination (minimum score 80%) and successfully completing the course of fire (80% accuracy).

4 hour block of training consisting entirely of classroom time that will allow upon completion the lawful carry and use of a straight baton. Instruction will include but is not limited to: the history of the police baton, baton nomenclature, recognizing the threat, elements of reporting resistance and control, company policies and procedures, striking techniques, and target areas. Successful completion of the course requires passing a written examination (minimum score 80%).

8 hour block of training (4 hours classroom and 4 hours practical application) that upon completion allows the trainee to not only lawfully carry and use a straight baton but also have some basic practical experience in the proper use of the baton. Instruction will include the classroom aspect of the basic baton certification followed by the practical application of the intermediate weapon. The practical application will consist of but not be limited to: baton grips and the ready position, baton drawing techniques, strikes and counter-strikes, baton shielding, and baton retention. Successful completion of this course requires passing a written examination (minimum score 80%) and the ability to demonstrate the techniques as shown in the practical application.

This course of instruction will include but not be limited to: the different types of chemical agents and their practical use, basic first aid after use of the chemical agent, the use of chemical agents with regard to the force continuum, proper carry of the agent, and liability aspects of the use of chemical agents. The classroom aspect of the course will include but not be limited to: the different types of handcuffs, laws regarding detaining a person, and the liability associated with detaining a person. The practical application will consist of demonstration of proper handcuffing techniques, handcuff carry, and handcuff deployment. Successful completion of the course requires passing a written examination (minimum score 80%) and proper demonstration of the handcuffing techniques as shown.
